CREMER and Temasek’s Asia Sustainable Foods Platform to form Cremer Sustainable Foods

The core focus of Cremer Sustainable Foods will be to augment contract manufacturing capabilities for plant-based protein products in Asia.

By bringing significant high moisture extrusion (HME) capabilities to Asia, Cremer Sustainable Foods aims to become the nexus of production support for the fast-growing plant-based community there. The Joint Venture’s first 11,000 square feet plant-based manufacturing facility will be located in Singapore, and is targeted to be ready by the first quarter of 2022, with an initial HME capacity of over 1,000 tonnes per year.

For CREMER, this Joint Venture is an important milestone. Damian Krueger, General Manager of CREMER Nutrition, highlighted CREMER’s pursuit of supporting customers in sustainable plant-based foods, “We are constantly improving and developing value-added services and products for our customers in tomorrow’s world. Recognising the growing importance of sustainability, health and plant-based foods in supporting the global food ecosystem, CREMER wants to play a major role in driving these trends by contributing production knowledge we have gained over decades.”

By partnering Temasek’s Asia Sustainable Foods Platform, CREMER will be working alongside a like-minded partner that is focused on accelerating the commercialisation of sustainable foods in Asia and will be able to tap on Temasek’s extensive network, as an active investor in Agri-Foods such as alternative proteins.

“With our support to remove friction-to-adoption, companies can speed up their product development and pilot launch, as well as accelerate their commercial scale-up and go-to-market. In the end, it is our goal to delight consumers across Asia with tasty, fresh, traceable and sustainable food,” said Mathys Boeren, the CEO of
Temasek’s Asia Sustainable Foods Platform.

With CREMER’s existing plant-based contract manufacturing facilities in North America and China, and now Cremer Sustainable Foods in Singapore, the CREMER Nutrition team is both excited and optimistic about upcoming plans as CREMER strives towards scaling the business globally.
